5 Things from the Force Awakens Poster I Noticed

Ok so quickly I’m going to share 5 interesting things I noticed from the brand new poster for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Let me know any others you noticed.

Possible spoilers follow. Proceed at your own risk.

1. New Super Weapon

So this pretty clearly looks like a Super Weapon. I’m assuming it’s Starkiller Base but I honestly thought it was built into a planet. This looks more similar to the Death Star, but obviously it’s tough to see on a poster.

2. Mysterious Alien?

Considering in a poster you’re going to get core characters, the inclusion of this little alien is interesting. I’ve got to think this must be Maz Kanata, the alien smuggler played by Lupita Nyong’o. If that’s the case, this is our first official look at her and I’d bet money she’s included in tomorrow’s trailer.

3. No New Logo

So it was being widely reported by reputable outlets that we’d get a new The Force Awakens logo with this trailer. To be honest, I’ve never been too keen on the current logo for the film, so I’m a little disappointed that didn’t come to fruition. I would say if it’s not on the poster it’s not going to be in the trailer. Purely speculation, there, though.

4. First real look at Leia

Yes, I’m aware we saw her in the behind the scenes SDCC reel, but this was our first real look at Carrie Fisher in the role.  I must say, she looks fantastic and honestly exactly how I always pictured Leia looking after this long. Obviously it’s important for her to be included in this poster since she’s going to play such a big role.

5. Where is Luke?!

So where is our favorite Jedi? My childhood (and let’s be honest, adulthood) hero is conspicuously absent. There are two possibilities. 1, he’s going to be in the trailer released tomorrow. Or 2, he’s going to be revealed fully in the movie and not a second earlier. I could see Luke’s reveal being too big for a poster or a trailer. And if Making Star Wars is correct, we may have to even wait a while in the actual movie to see him.
