Kill Count: Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope

It’s time for another kill count, this time it’s the next installment of Star Wars, A New Hope, or as anybody older than 40 or so calls it, Star Wars.

To refresh, here are the rules…

  1. Destroying vehicles count as 1 kill, unless it’s a 2-person vehicle; there is no guesswork involved here.
  2. Droids don’t technically count, but I’ll still count them and put the total with droid kills in parentheses so you can see who killed the most. Otherwise this movie is less than 5 total kills.
  3. I also will choose what I consider to be the main and secondary characters. I’m not going to count how many kills Stormtrooper #7 had.

Without further adieu, let’s do this!

  • Darth Vader choke slams Captain Raymus Antilles.
  • Princess Leia shoots a Stormtrooper in the escape pod docking bay.
  • Obi-Wan kills both Dr. Evazon and Ponda Baba when they pull out their blasters.
  • Han Solo doesn’t shoot first. He is the only one to fire his weapon. Greedo = dead.
  • Han kills 2 Stormtroopers when they ambush docking bay 94.
  • Han kills 2 Stormtroopers when they enter the Millennium Falcon.
  • Chewie kills an imperial command officer.
  • Han shoots 1 Stormtrooper in the command center.
  • Chewie kills a prisoner escort in the cell block.
  • Luke kills 3 imperials in the cell block when they try to take Chewie to his cell.
  • Han Solo kills 2 imperials as they try to grab Chewie.
  • Han Solo kills 1 Stormtrooper after the imperials break down the door.
  • Luke kills a Stormtrooper before jumping into the garbage chute.
  • Han kills 2 Stormtroopers in the hallway of the Death Star.
  • Luke kills 1 Stormtrooper in the famous chasm scene.
  • Leia headshots a Stormtrooper in the chasm scene.
  • Darth Vader finally exacts revenge on Obi-Wan Kenobi, but on Kenobi’s terms.
  • Luke kills 3 Stormtroopers in anger after seeing his father figure, Obi-Wan Kenobi, die.
  • Han kills 2 TIE Fighters and their pilots in the turret.
  • Luke kills 2 TIE Fighters and their pilots in the turret.
  • Luke destroys a TIE Fighter in the Death Star Assault.
  • Vader destroys 2 Y Wing and 4 total crew members, plus 2 astromech droids.
  • Vader destroys 3 X-Wings and their 3 total crew members, plus 3 astromech droids.
  • Vader kills Biggs and his Astromech droid.
  • Han kills 1 TIE Fighter to save Luke.
  • Luke destroys the Death Star.
